As part of our third work package in the NanoKos project, which facilitates visits to Kosovo by European researchers, including those from the Kosovo Diaspora, we are delighted to announce an upcoming activity.
We are honored to welcome Dr. Taulant Kukaj from the Institute of Physiology II at Jena University Hospital. Dr. Kukaj will be leading a workshop on Fluorescent Microscopy and FRET on the 27th of June.
Dr. Kukaj is a distinguished postdoctoral researcher specializing in the biophysics of membrane proteins. With a background in pharmacy and a master’s degree in Organic Chemistry from the University of Prishtina, he earned his PhD at FSU Jena, focusing on the biophysics and molecular pharmacology of metabotropic glutamate receptors. His current research centers on ion channels, and he has published numerous papers in reputable scientific journals. Additionally, Dr. Kukaj has received clinical trial management training from Parexel Academy.
The workshop will cover topics including the introduction to microscopy, the use of lights for studying membrane proteins, image analysis using Zeiss ZEN software, and hands-on practice observing fixed samples with a fluorescent microscope.
